Media Director Position Summary:

The Media Director is responsible for advancing Free Press' mission and goals and will work to build recognition and credibility of the organization. With other FP staff s/he will create and implement a strategic, multi-faceted media relations program that will build and maintain relationships with journalists and producers; book interviews and prepare spokespeople for media appearances; write press releases and advisories; develop talking points and hone messaging on key issues. The Media Director will maintain quality control in all print, online, video, and in-person publications and presentations. This job requires a flexible schedule including long hours and some evening and weekend work. Occasional domestic travel required. This position reports to the executive director.

June 25, 2009 - The Disney ABC Television Group's Casting Project will hold auditions for consideration for the ABC Talent Showcase as part of its ongoing effort to discover and develop culturally and ethnically diverse talent and actors with disabilities.



ABC's Talent Showcase has established an industry standard in creating opportunities for talent, with the majority of participants being given the chance to audition for a variety of ABC (and other networks') pilots and ongoing programming. Past participants include Jorge Garcia of Lost and Carrie Ann Inaba of Dancing with the Stars.



Participants for the talent showcase must be at least 18 years old. Previous acting experience/training is required of all, but professional representation is not necessary.

Call for Submissions: Chicken & Egg Pictures Open Call

Chicken & Egg Pictures June 30th Open Call is now open for submissions. Chicken & Egg Pictures is a hybrid film fund and non-profit production company dedicated to supporting women filmmakers who are as passionate about the craft of storytelling as they are about the social justice, environmental and human rights issues they're embracing, translating and exploring on film.
We match strategically timed financial support with rigorous, respectful and dynamic mentorship, creative collaboration and community-building to nurture women filmmakers whose diverse voices represent a range of lived experience and realities that have the power to change the world as we know it.

Filmmakers are supported at pivotal "chicken & egg" moments, and can apply for support - development to completion. Since founding in 2005, Chicken & Egg Pictures has provided approximately $1 million dollars in funding to over 50 women-made films.

This open call is for non-fiction projects (unless otherwise solicited) - that are dedicated to progressive social change -- both short and feature length, "webisodes", animation, experimental and multiplatform new-media hybrids.

2009 Television Writers Program

Writers Program





This program is not for beginners. It is for those writers who can write at least one half-hour comedy or one-hour dramatic television script in English within a five-week period of time.



The program will take place in Los Angeles, CA from November 7th to December 12th. Each participant is expected to complete at least one script by the end of the five-week session, which will then be read by network executives.



Those writers whose scripts show promise will be interviewed and mentored by the network executives with the idea of placing them on a show. Nine of our writers from previous sessions have already been placed.



A stipend of $250 per week will be given to each participant.

Flight, housing, and meals will be provided.


The program will commence on November 7th.

If selected, you must be available to fly and stay in Los Angeles, CA
from November 7 —December 12, 2009



Writing samples must be in English and Television scripts are preferred.

Please note that writing teams are ineligible. The deadline for submissions is August 28th.

Scripts will be evaluated and program participants announced on October 12th.
