Description:
This is a key management position in the Finance & Operations department. As the Director of Budgeting & Cash Management you will interact with all levels of UWW's leadership and senior management teams. As the Director you must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

1. Coordinate the budgeting functions within UWW. Accountable for accuracy, timeliness and transparency of the annual budget as well as monthly reporting of actual spending vs. budget amounts. Analysis of variances, forecast actual spending, and providing granular spending and budget reports that meet the needs of the business areas;

2. Coordinate the cash management function of UWW including: cash forecasting, investing and reporting to UWW's Investment and Pension Subcommittee;

3. Provide financial analysis to equipt management with information needed for business case decision making, using appropriate financial principles. Provide support and guidelines to other groups within UWW to determine appropriate strategies to pursue. This includes process development, benchmarking and measuring results against plan.

4. Ensure the efficient and accurate management of the capital expenditure budget.

5. Create effective policies, processes, tools and a discipline geared to cost management within UWW; and

6. Other duties and special projects (departmental and organizational) as assigned.

Education Requirements:
Minimum requirements include a bachelor degree. CPA preferred.

Experience Required:
Progressive experience in a similar role and five years of previous people management experience. Additionally, this position requires three to five years of experience in a leadership role. Excellent project management skills. Ability to interact with all levels of staff. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent Microsoft Suite skills.

Lead Organizer position at CASA de Maryland

CASA de Maryland, one of the largest immigrant organizing, advocacy and service organizations in the country, is hiring experienced bi-lingual lead organizers.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:
The Senior Manager of Organizing and Leadership Development performs a wide range of duties as assigned by CASA and these may include some or all of the duties and responsibilities included within the organizer job description. These job areas include:
* Coordinate and supervise organizing staff
* Design and manage large campaigns; planning and implementing tactics including demonstrations, accountability sessions, etc.
* Develop and implement leadership programs that train activists and ally organizations to develop organizing skills, critical thinking, and organizational development skills
* Serve as an organizational spokesperson before the media, funders, government, etc.
* Engage broad community and key ally support
* Ensure the conduction of strategic research to inform campaign strategy
* Direct major negotiations tied to organizing drives
* Advance institutional goals and play a key role within management team
* Provide high quality supervision including performance evaluation, individual workplan development and oversight, development, evaluation, and alteration of targeting campaigns, skill development, etc. CASA staff are organized by the Communications Workers of America and supervision of bargaining unit members must be done in compliance with our Collective Bargaining Agreement.
* Create, as a member of CASA’s management team, annual plans with measurable outcomes, track information regarding plan completion, and assist in the provision of reports regarding activities to leaders, board, and funders.
* Ensure the implementation of a successful membership and c(4) program
Qualifications
* A minimum of five years professional experience leading strategic organizing, advocacy, and/or electoral campaigns designed to and with proven results in improving fundamental and important challenges affecting the lives of the constituency organized
* Known and demonstrable capacity to design successful targeting campaigns
* A minimum of three years of experience engaging important and strategic allies to advance the political interests of the constituency organized
* Knowledge and experience with popular education methodologies and leadership development training
* Deep knowledge of organizing institutions and strategies across faith, labor, and community-based movements
* A minimum of two years experience supervising paid staff; highly prefer a candidate with supervisory experience in a unionized workplace
* Excellent writing, oral presentation, and computer skills required
* Bilingual Spanish/English required; additional languages especially French a plus
* Deep and proven commitment to progressive causes with strong preference for candidates with a proven track record organizing Latino immigrant communities
* Deep commitment to growing CASA as a membership institution in which our activists have decision-making authority

$50,000 - $60,000 plus benefits

The Resources, Science, and Industry Division (RSI) of the Congressional
Research Service (CRS) is seeking an Analyst in Natural Resources
Policy. The analyst will apply scientific and economic understanding to
the research and analysis of public policy issues related to natural
resources programs, policies, and practices, with an emphasis on the
National Park Service, including issues of visitor use, maintenance,
scientific research, and ecosystem protection. The analyst will also
treat the interrelationships of these issues with associated key natural
resource, federal land management, and science issues, including, for
example, water resources, fish and wildlife, endangered species,
forestry, climate change, ecosystem health, and sustained use.

The analyst will provide objective, expert public policy analysis and
consultation to congressional committees, Members, and staff. This
entails preparing objective, non-partisan, and innovative analytical
studies on public policy issues of national or international
significance; providing personal assistance as an expert on public
policy issues throughout the legislative process, including analyzing,
appraising, and evaluating legislative proposals; and participating in
or leading multidisciplinary team research projects and seminars. The
analyst is also expected to develop over time increasingly sophisticated
skills necessary to provide public policy and legislative analysis at
the highest levels.

Specialist on Tax Expenditures

The Domestic Social Policy (DSP) Division of the Congressional Research Service is seeking a Specialist on Tax Expenditures to serve the United States Congress. The specialist will work primarily on issues related to the use of tax expenditures to advance social policy goals, in lieu of, or in conjunction with, direct spending approaches to achieve social objectives.

Working closely with other DSP analysts, the Specialist on Tax Expenditures will address issues in education, health, income security, pensions, family policy, and related issues that are of interest to Congress. Examples include the use of tax credits to encourage the purchasing of health insurance in the non-group market, subsidies for child care, the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, and tax incentives for saving for retirement, education, home ownership or charitable contributions.

The successful candidate for this position will have a thorough understanding of the tax code as an instrument to achieve such public
policy objectives.
